What are packrafts / backpacking boats?

Packrafts are (ultra)light, robust and compact inflatable boats. However, these boats have little to do with a conventional inflatable boat due to their stability, the respective pack size and the specific purposes.

Families to outdoor enthusiasts appreciate the versatile packraft selection of the TrekPack fleet.

How does our rental work?

Please fill in all required fields in our request form. You can find the request form under the instructions on this page.

3. receive a binding offer

TrekPack will send you a binding offer by email within 24 hours (binding period 4 days).

4. Pay by bank transfer

If the offer is accepted, the payment should be made within the binding period.

5. receive confirmation

You will receive a confirmation of the payment, so your reservation is secured.

How does the shipping work?

The Packraft will be shipped via DHL parcel shipping to the specified address. You will receive a tracking number from us at the time of shipment, so that you are informed about the arrival of the package.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a punctual delivery to a desired packing station, since the possibility exists that this is occupied at the time of delivery. Thus, the scheduled delivery may be delayed.

How does the return shipment work?

A return slip from DHL is enclosed in the package sent to you. The package must be posted at a DHL acceptance point by 12 noon on the return day, which is usually Monday.

Other return days are possible on request.

What belongs to the basic equipment at the rental?

The following equipment is included with every order and are included in the stated week-, week - price - NO additional costs! Depending on the type of packraft you get more.

How do I find my right packraft?

1. do I ride alone or in pairs, i.e. 1 - or 2 - packraft?

2. which packraft fits my height and weight and what is the max. load? You will find the information under the respective packraft type.

3. what do I want to do with the packraft? You should consider the following points:

- Navigation of lakes and rivers (up to whitewater category 1)
- Running white water rivers >1
- Is the weight of the packraft decisive?
- Do I generally want to ride with the spraydeck completely open?
- Is the stowage of luggage on or in the packraft decisive?
- Does the speed of the packraft matter?

How do I inflate the Packraft?

Depending on the size of the packraft, you can fill the packraft with air in approx. 10 air blasts. In order for the packraft to have the appropriate surface tension, you need to add a few more blasts of air to the packraft using the hand pump provided.

If you start directly from the car or camper, you can of course also use a conventional air or electric pump.

What is the best way to transport luggage with the packraft?

In most cases, the backpack is lashed to the bow or stern with lashing straps.

Our Alligator 2S Pro, Barracuda R2 Pro and Nomad S1 are equipped with an ISS.

ISS stands for Internal Storage System. By means of a TZip you can fill the side tubes with luggage using two supplied pack sacks.

If you use the ISS or the stern for storage, we recommend our Anfibio DeckPack as an additional bag for the bow.

The Nano RTC offers as an option a roll closure integrated into the tube at the end of the packraft.

What should be considered when handling the packraft after it is first put into the water?

The greater the difference between the water temperature and the ambient air, the more the air in the packraft contracts.

Ideally, you should put the packraft in the water for 10 minutes before launch and pump it up again. If you are traveling in pairs with the packrafts, you can use the supplied hand pumps to pump each other's packrafts on the water.

What do I do if the packraft loses air?

In very rare cases, the rental boat may be damaged. For a possible loss of air we have included a repair kit. With this special adhesive tape you can temporarily mask the damaged area and continue your trip.

Please list the damage on the enclosed checklist before returning the Packraf.

What should be considered as soon as the packraft is stored on land?

The packraft should be protected from direct sunlight. Furthermore, we recommend to store it windproof and on a non-damaging surface. If necessary, secure the packraft with a rope against drifting.

Can I use the packraft in salt water?

You can use our Packrafts in salt water.

After use, clean the packraft and accessories with clean water.
Apart from that you don't have to pay attention to anything else.

How do I clean the packraft before returning it to TrekPack?

Please clean the packraft only with clean water and not with detergent.

The boat should not be fully inflated when cleaning, otherwise the possible dirt and sand stuck in the cracks is difficult to clean.

Please pack the rental boat in dry condition for return.

Use and safety instructions, what I should pay attention to!

The supplied TrekPack user manual provides you with the most important steps in handling the packraft and accessories.

Avoid waters where you cannot assess the dangers. You should be able to swim safely in the water. Familiarize yourself with the equipment supplied before your first trip.

Inform yourself about all legal regulations, especially the respective navigation regulations. In the context of the renting only waters may be navigated, which do NOT belong to the inland waterways and coastal waters! A detailed list of the waters (sections) that are not to be navigated can be found on the homepage www.wsv.de.

If you want to go with your rental boat into the white water, we recommend you a suitable life jacket with at least 60 N buoyancy force as well as additionally a white water helmet. WILDWATER SET - click here...

The buoyancy aid described in the scope of delivery (order without whitewater set)
does not meet these requirements.

The use of boat slides is prohibited.

For air travel, the backpack must be packed in a separate protective cover.
